About Kevin Hill

I started this site in 2007 initially as part of an html course. The dodgy design attests to that. But the genesis of the course goes back to when I was in University. One of the problems I had with my degree was the lack of original sources I got to read. I had graduated with reading no Joyce, no Bronte, no Hegel, no Freud, no Cicero, no Aristotle. Most of my readings were interpretations and secondary sources – useful but lacking in poetry.
Frustrated, I did some research (back before the internet I had to actually visit a library) and I read books on Great Book lists. I wasn’t happy with them as they seemed both outdated and too heavily weighted toward Greek, Roman, English and American writers. So my Great Books List was born and now I am putting it up for the world to see and use as a start their own discovery of the great books.

Originally from the UK, I moved to Canada where I now make my living as a journalist and communications professional.
I am married to the lovely and patient Tracy and I hope to have this list finished soon.
